UH FOOTBALL WEEK-IN-REVIEW
Post by:AM 1500 8/17/2008 10:22:17 PM
It was a week of good news and bad news for the UH Warriors. First the bad news -- it was announced that Blaze Soares and Rocky Savaiigaea would miss the Florida game and probably more, as they both suffered torn muscles in practice. With Blaze out and Adam Leonard nursing a tender hamstring, Solomon Elimimian moved from inside to outside linebacker, Brashton Satele moved up to #1 inside linebacker, and true freshman Paipai Falemalu saw some time with the second team.
It also looks more and more like Tyler Graunke won't be back anytime soon.
As for the good news -- the tight 3-way race to replaced ended when Brent Rausch was named UH's starting quarterback. He'll now get a large majority of the reps to prepare for his debut against Florida.
Adam Leonard was named to the Butkus Award Watchlist.
And former UH athletic director Herman Frazier found employment at Temple University.

For the third straight week, Colt Brennan led the Washington Redskins on a game-winning drive, going 4 of 5 for 79 yards and the go-ahead 33 yard TD pass.Davone Bess moved his way up the Miami Dolphins depth chart, practicing at first team slot receiver this past week. In his preseason game against the Jags, he started in the first half and caught two passes for 12 yards.
His teammate Samson Satele, firmly entrenched as Miami's starting center, was featured in a Midweek cover story.
Earlier in the week, Arizona Cardinal linebacker Travis LaBoy unveiled a WWE-style championship belt to be awarded to his team's weekly sack leader. He then got a jump on the competition, recording two sacks and six total tackles in a preseason game against the Chiefs.Ashley Lelie missed another preseason game as he continues to recover from a strained calf.
And Leonard Peters made some nice hits at safety and special teams for the Chicago Bears.
